Exodus 27:1-8 The Lord instructs Moses to build a Bronze Altar of acacia wood overlaid with bronze.4 horns shall be made for the corners. Pots shall be made to receive the ashes of the sacrifice, and the altar utensils made of bronze. A grate of bronze shall be made with 4 bronze rings on the corners extending under the ledge halfway down the altar. Poles of acacia wood shall be made overlaid with gold to carry the altar, via the 4 rings on the corners.
Notes: This is the altar where the priests will offer the sacrifices that the Lord commands Israel to bring to him.
Exodus 27:9-18 Moses shall make a court for the tabernacle. The south and north side shall have hangings of linen 100 cubits long, and 20 pillars and 20 bases of bronze, but the hooks and fillets shall be silver. The west side shall have 50 cubit hangings, and 10 pillars and 10 bases of bronze. The east side shall be 50 cubit wide. On this east side, on both sides of the gate, there shall be 15 cubit hangings with 3 pillars and 3 bases. The gate of the court shall have a 20 cubit screen of blue and purple and scarlet yarn and fine twined lined, embroidered with needlework. They shall have 4 pillars and bases. All the pillars around the court shall be filleted with silver, with silver hooks and bronze bases. The length of the court shall be 100 cubits, the width 50 cubits, and the height five cubits with hangings of fine twined linen and bases of bronze.

Exodus 27:19 All the utensils of the tabernacle for every use, and all its pegs and all the pegs of the court, shall be of bronze.
Notes: The Court encloses both the tabernacle and the bronze basin and altar of burnt offering. The instructions for the court include mention of the fact that the tabernacle and its court will be set up with the front to the east. The sanctuary, like the garden of Eden, is entered from the east. The outer hangings were high enough, 5 cubits or 7.5 feet, to block all view of the interior of the courtyard.
Exodus 27:20-21 Pure beaten olive oil for the light of the lamp shall be brought by the people of Israel. Aaron and his sons shall tend to the Golden Lampstand from evening to morning and keep it burning.
Notes: The clear oil from crushed unripened olives granted almost a smoke-free light.
