Exodus 26:1-6 The Lord now gives Moses instructions on how to build the tabernacle. 10 curtains shall be made with cherubim sewed in. 5 curtains shall be coupled to one another, and likewise the other 5. Loops are to be made on the outer edges totaling 100 loops all together. Claps of gold shall be made to couple the curtains together, so that the tabernacle may be a single whole.
Notes: The tabernacle is the place on earth where the God of heaven has chosen to dwell with Israel. The beauty of these curtains could be seen only from the inside, the thick outer protective covering of goats’ hair drapes, and ram skins hiding them from the view of anyone except the priests who entered.
Exodus 26:7-14 11 Curtains of goat hair shall be made for a tent to cover the Tabernacle. 5 curtains and then 6 curtains shall be coupled together. The 6th curtain shall double over at the front of the tent. Loops are to be made on the outer edges totaling 100 loops all together. Clamps of bronze shall be made to couple the curtains together, so that the tabernacle may be a single whole. The extra that remains of the curtains shall hang over the back of the tabernacle. The extra of the length of the curtains shall hang over the sides. On top shall be a covering of tanned rams’ and goat skins on top of the curtains.
Exodus 26:15-25 The frames of the tabernacle shall be made of acacia wood. 20 frames on the south side, and 20 frames on the north side. 40 bases of silver shall be made under the frames, two for each frame. The west back of the tabernacle shall have 6 frames. 2 additional frames for the corners, including a total of 16 silver bases.
Exodus 26:26-30 Bars overlaid with gold shall be made of acacia wood, 5 on each side, and 5 for the back westward location. Rings of gold shall be made for holders of the bars. The tabernacle shall then be erected according to the plans the Lord showed Moses on the mountain.
Notes: Throughout the wilderness wanderings, it could be quickly dismantled and readied for transport, and just as rapidly re-erected.
Exodus 26:31-35 A veil of blue and purple and scarlet yarn with woven cherubim shall be made to hang on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, with gold hooks, on four bases of silver. The ark shall be within the veil, the veil the Holy Place from the Most Holy (The Lord Himself). The mercy seat shall be placed on top of the ark. The table of bread shall go outside the veil, along with the lampstand opposite each other.
Exodus 26:36-37 A screen shall be made for the entrance of the tabernacle of blue and purple and scarlet yarn. The screen shall hang on five pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold, with gold hooks set on five bases of bronze.
